How to promote your blog

Blogging is arguably one of the best ways to make good money online. There are many ways to earn cash with a blog. Affiliate marketing, Google Adsense and private ads are just some of the ways that you can make money blogging. The key to having a successful blog (in terms of making money) is to have lots of quality traffic. Building an audience is the most important thing you can do when blogging. Targeted traffic will convert into money for your blog. Now how do you promote a blog especially if its brand new and you’re a beginner.

Provide updates via Twitter

A new blogger or any blogger can use Twitter to effectively promote their blog and their new posts. Make it as habit of sending out tweets when you have a new blog post or have added a new feature to your blog / website. Be sure not to tweet every little thing. Also still tweet about other things to draw in a bigger audience. Tweeting will do no good if you don’t have many Twitter followers so take that into consideration.

Participate in forums

Participating in forums can be a great way to promote your blog or website. By being active in forums of the same topic as your blog, you spark other peoples interest in your blog. I would recommend you gain some influence in the forum before you really start promoting or people will think your spamming them.

Quality content speaks for itself

This is not really a way to promote your blog but its still worth mentioning. By writing quality posts and content that people enjoy reading, your blog will get promoted by others. This is by far the best way your blog can get promoted because it means that others are taking interest in your hard work!

Get involved in communities

Communities like Blog Catalog can drive some traffic to your blog. However I personally have found that these type of communities are more for spammers. You will have to find out if you can promote your blog using this method yourself.

Promoting your blog is extremely important because it gives your blog a lift and lets people around the web know about it. Beginners who have just started a blog or who are thinking about starting one should think very carefully about how they are going to promote it. Remember that gaining a targeted blog audience is the hard part, once you have the audience it is easy to make money!
Money making tips for begginers

Guest Post by Joe Land

Beginners at anything almost always have trouble when they start because they have no idea what they are doing and they are inexperienced in what is going on. The same basic concept holds true to beginners who want to start making money online. They are very susceptible to online scams and programs that will lead them nowhere in terms of making money online. In this post I will not necessarily give you names of specific programs, I will give you some valuable tips that will help you make your own decision and help you get off on the right foot so you can make money.

Start Simple And Build Up

One of the most important things you can do as a beginner is to start simple. The phrase keep it simple stupid is perfect for the making money online business because simpler means that you are less likely to get scammed. Now keeping it simple forever is not the best idea either. You should start out fairly easy and work your way up to more complicated ideas that will earn you more money. This way you can learn as you go and not have to worry as much about getting scammed.

Avoiding Nasty Scams

There are millions of online scams out on the world wide web that are waiting to take your hard earned money. A general tip for beginners is to start out with programs that are free and that you have nothing to lose with. These include paid survey sites and article writing sites. There are numerous sites out there in these categories that are free and that will provide beginners with a legit way to begin making money online. The key in the beginning is to stay away from the sites that charge you a fee in order to join in their site. While these sites are always tempting, even for me, they are almost always scams and were designed for one thing. Taking your money! Avoid these sites at all costs.

Researching Is Key

When it comes to making money online, one of the most important things you can do is research. Lets say you have come across a nice site that looks like a good opportunity for you to make money online with. The first thing you should do is google the site and see what experiences others have had with it. If a site is a scam then other people will have written about it on Google or other places. Remember to do your homework about a site.

These three tips if followed will help any beginner make money online. Remember that making money online takes time and effort and a person will not become rich. Most people are just looking for an extra income that they can use in one way or another. The most important tip to when it comes to making money online… Don’t get to greedy.

Make Easy Money Online

Treasuretrooper.com is a website that anyone can join free and make money by signing up companies offers and referring new member to the site. As most of the offers are from US companies so many of the paid to sign up opportunities are available to American only. People who live outside US can still earn money through the refer a friend program and fill out some low-paid offers.

Low-paid offers usually are free to sign up whereas high-paid offers generally require you to include credit card detail during the process of sign up. Your earning will depend on the number of free offers completed and your referral. If you can complete 5 cash offers daily, you should be earning more than $20.00 per month. The more you sign up the higher your earning. Completing offers isn't a difficult job (an easy task actually) some members said that it is fun doing it. They will pay you when the earning exceeds $20.00.

Don't trust this website? Read this forum for testimonies, proof of payment and their latest progress. You can also do a search from search engines to see what others are commenting about this website before taking any action. I can't guarantee that you will make money joing Treasuretrooper.com but with their good history records and on-time paying status, you can consider joing them if you are looking for a way to make extra money online.

Make money with paid survey, is it just a scam or non-sense. Well, there are actually a lot of reputable market research and consumer companies welcome people to become their members to earn cash participating in their online survey. It is a legitimate way to make money online. Additionally, Paid survey is very popular, there are more than 100,000 people searching for paid surveys every month in Yahoo as recorded in Overture Search tool.

However, the downsides of paid survey is that you will not know how much money you make ever month. The companies only send paid survey invitations to you if you are eligible. If you receive more surveys in the month, you'll earn more. Another problem is that most paid surveys only available to US residents, so people outside US will find hard to make money with paid survey.

Start Earning with Paid Survey in 3 Steps:

  • Step 1 - Create a new e-mail account specially for receiving paid survey invitations. You can use Yahoo, Hotmail and other free email services. This will make finding your survey invitations easier compare to using an existing email that receives plenty of mails daily.
  • Step 2 - Go to Yellowsurveys.com to sign up with as many online market research companies as possible. The site compiled a long list of market research companies that offer paid surveys. Sign up with the companies in "Most Popular" category first and then continue to join the rest. This can take few days of work.
  • Step 3 - Wait for paid survey invitations send to you. It can take fews days to months to receive your first survey invitation. You shouldn't rely on paid survey as your main source of income. It can only be a way of earning extra money.

The internet is full of websites that claim to help you make money online or earn residual income. The problem is, 95% of these websites are simply scams or MLM schemes that want to take your money. I have spent the last two years scouring the web in search of legitimate ways to make money online. Only a select few websites actually back up their claims and really do provide results and I have listed these websites on my blog – Residuals and Royalties.

There are three ways that I prove to my readers that I am actually earning a profit from these websites and I will list each one for you. These three forms of “proof” help my readers have a little faith that if they put some effort into these websites, they WILL get paid. The three ways that I prove my earnings are: screen shots, check proof videos and auto-calculating banners.

Proof of Earnings Screen Shots: Every time I get a payout from a website, I usually like to take a screen shot of my earnings to post on my blog for the world to see. The only downside to screenshots is the fact that they can easily be photoshopped or changed, which causes some people to be skeptical of my earnings. I can tell you that I don't have the time or interest in trying to photoshop my screenshots.

Check Proof Videos: To further prove my earnings to others, I like to take videos of the checks that I receive in the mail from various sources. Not all of the websites that I work with provide actual paper checks, but when they do – I always record a video of the check. If you do the same, be sure and cover the personal information like you address, the check number and anything else you don’t want visible to the public. There are two primary checks that I have been video taping every month – my CashCrate check and my Google Adsense check.

Auto-Calculating Banners: I have a CashCrate banner atop my Residuals and Royalties blog that automatically updates when my earnings change. This banner shows the exact number of referrals I have made and how much money I have earned for the month as well as my total earnings overall. This banner is an excellent way to prove my earnings, since I have no way of altering the figures.

If you have another way that you use to prove the legitimacy of your online earnings, please let us know by commenting below.

How to advertise your blog or website free

There are many ways to advertise your website or blog for free. Advertising online is easy to do and just takes a few minutes in most cases, depending on what type of ad you're promoting. You can take the first step in starting your free advertising by doing a simple search for "free advertising" on any major search engine such as Google, Yahoo or MSN.

Remember when posting your ads, to bookmark the website where you posted the ad so you can return often to repost, edit or delete the ad or ads, as needed. You can save yourself a lot of time when placing multiple ads, by simply first typing your ads in Microsoft Word, then simply copying/pasting that information onto the online ad form fields.

Below are some ways you can start free advertising. Try all of these methods and see what works best for you. Keep in mind, free advertising can be time consuming and will take some manual work on your part but it's well worth it and will pay off in the long run.

Promote your website or blog by writing articles then submitting them to top article directories

There are many free blog websites like, blogger.com, wordpress.com and yahoo360.com that you can sign up with and start your own blog. Once you start blogging or writing articles, you can add a link to your website or blog in your article exposing your link to anyone who reads it. If you sign up to write articles on Squidoo.com, GoArticles or EzineArticles.com, your articles will automatically show up in search engines when someone does a search with your keyword from the article or blog you wrote, thus getting you free search engine exposure. You can also write an article when you post your blog with the same content and add a link to that article on your blog as long as you still to the policies at that article website. Article marketing is one of the most effective and easy ways to get free traffic to your blog or website, thus getting you and your sites more exposure.

Post your website or blog to free Web Directories

You can find free web directories by doing searches for "free web directories". Keep in mind, two out of the three listed below require a business e-mail rather then your personal e-mail address such as yahoo, hotmail, or msn due to spam policies. The five largest free directories to submit to are dmoz.org, worldsiteindex.com, domaining.in, webworldindex.com, and searchsight.com.

Join Group Forums on Yahoo, Google and MSN

When you join group forums, you can post your ads free and they will be visable to all forum members once they log into the group forum or via e-mail if they sign up to receive their messages that way. Your ad will show up in the main forums, major search engine of the provider who provides the group forum and all forum member's inboxes. You should post your ads at least once every day or few days for your ad to be seen, otherwise rotating ads will replace your ad with the most recent post and your ad will most likely not be viewed. This method is very effective and free but requires a lot of time and maintenance.

Send your ads with free group forum mailers

Most group forum mailers will charge you a fee for this service but there are some that offer free trials. The great thing about these mailers is they already have a form set-up to mail your ad to all the group forums you have signed up with so instead of visiting each group forum and posting your ad manually, you do it all in one shot. Most group forum mailers require that you join the group forums they mail to before sending your ad out. This method can be very effective and can mean your ad reaching hundreds if not thousands per day! You will need to use the mailer at least once per day for your ad to be viewed.

Join Free Advertising Forums

This is a great way to start posting ads for free. Free Advertising Forums are easy to find on any search engine and it's easy to sign up and get

started. You should post your ads at least once per day if you want your ad to be viewed due to the high volume of ads being posted by other members.

Post your website or blog in Social Networking sites or Blog Directory sites

This is one of the most effective free way to advertise. Most Social Networking websites have millions of users and viewers and growing. Sites like Technorati, Del.ic.ious, Blinklist, Digg, Reddit, and Propellar are great social networking sites to start with. Sign up is free and as long as you follow their spam policy, you will get alot of free traffic by social bookmarking. The search engines automatically pick these sites up according to the tags and keywords you use in your bookmark. Do a search for "Top Blog Sites to Submit Your Blog To" and post your blog or blogs on those sites as well. If you do a search for "Social Networking Sites" they are easy to find on any major search engine.

Submit your link to websites with high traffic

Another very effective way to get in the search engines for free through backlinks. Backlinks are sites your website link is listed on. The more sites you are listed on, the more backlinks you will receive - meaning the search engines will find your site when someone does a search with your keywords depending on how many backlinks you have. If you know of a similar website to yours with very high traffic and a good page rank of Google, take a minute to leave a comment or request a link exchange from their webmaster. Each directory has their own policy but once you website link is listed on a high traffic site, it can really increase your traffic. If you don't see "submit or suggest a site" link, click on "contact us", and e-mail the webmaster sending a nice, professional e-mail about why you like their website asking them to exchange links with you.

Spend some time and try all these methods and see if your traffic doesn't increase. There are many ways to advertise, so you will need to use several methods to see which ones work best for you. Keep in mind, high web traffic can depend on what kind of website you are promoting, how well your ad is written and how often you post it. I hope this article was helpful to those who need advice on how you can advertising for free in today's competitive market. Happy advertising!

Make Money With A Banner Exchange Program
make more moneyThere are many ways to promote your blog or products for free on the Internet.

One way is by joining a banner exchange program.

These programs work as you would expect. In other words by running banner ads on your blog you will be able to have your ads published on other blogs / websites in exchange.

Most of these run on a like for like basis. Some, for example, offer points for every page impression on your blog and these will allow your ads to run on other blogs for the same amount of impressions. This makes a fair exchange.

Normally everything is done automatically by placing a supplied HTML code on your blog - and that's it.

An example of a website offering this service is NEObannersand, with their free service, there are statistics so you know how many banner impressions you have had etc.

If you need to make simple banners I often use Banner Fans where you can knock up a banner, of varying sizes, in a few minutes - well you can once you get the hang of it. If you sign up with them they will also store your banners together with the relevant HTML.

We all need to promote to make money and, if we can do it for free, so much the better.
Four Secrets Of Making Money With Blogs
The Persistence of TimeOkay, what are the secrets to making money with blogs? There's a lot of rubbish written on this but here the 4 essentials.

(1) Persistence
So many get enthused at the start of a New Year and decide to make their fortune by blogging. "It's easy," they think, having read a lot of the hype. The reality is, however, that most new bloggers soon give up when the cash doesn't appear as it is supposed to.

Yes, there will always be exceptions but generally it takes a lot of persistence to make good full time money from a blog. Think perhaps years rather than overnight.

Even big six figure bloggers such as Darren Rowse didn't crack the big time straight away.
He made a lot of money in November 2009 but after he had stated this fact he went on to say:
This might sound like another scammy ‘make money fast online’ story - but it’s not. While the money did come in fast in November, it was on the back of over 3 years hard work and gradual growth on that blog.

Not only that - I’d been blogging for 4 years previously on other blogs - learning the medium and experimenting with how blogs could make money.
Take another example. Rhys Wynne for example, for whom I have a lot of respect.

He recently wrote:
Maintaining a blog is hard work, promoting a blog is hard work. However it can be rewarding. Blogging hasn’t bought me – after 7 years – a full time sustainable income yet. However, in the past 7 years I have gained the following from blogging:-

• A full time job as a web marketer.
• A part time job traveling the country working with a British Wrestling company.
• Beer money.
• Weekends away being wined & dined in London.
• A girlfriend for six months.
• Mentioned in the Guardian, Twice
• Two Interviews on BBC Radio Wales.
• A column in The North Wales Weekly News.
• Video Games.
• Professional connections.
• People in strange cities to go with for pints.
• And – dare I say it – Friends.
So, unless you are a 'special one', it may well take a while to build up your blog to reach a good income level. You have to keep on going.

(2) Flexibility
I maintain that you have to be flexible in blogging and with any money making venture. If something isn't working it's no good flogging a dead horse. You have to make some changes. If you keep on doing the same things, you'll get the same results.

So be prepared to try different styles or make improvements if things aren't performing as you would wish - but keep in mind that blogging is long term.

(3) Promotion
You can write the most interesting and perfect copy but, if no one visits or reads your blog, you won't make any money. Full stop.

People won't just arrive at a blog post, you have to learn the business. Read about Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and do something every day to promote your blog. You'll find lots of ways to do this if you start looking.

When I started blogging I set myself a target of getting my blog's URL listed somewhere different every day. At the time I didn't fully realise all of the benefits of doing this. It simply made sense to me that if I had the blog listed in lots of places, hopefully I might just get lots of visitors in return.

It didn't actually work out exactly like this but the blog traffic increased gradually week by week. The benefit I eventually saw was that all of the links often got my posts in good positions on Google. Now this does bring visitors.

(4) Traffic
The biggest secret of blogging is traffic. If you have lots of traffic you'll make money.

"Yes, but isn't Content King?," people ask. I think it's more of a Lord or a Duke personally. Good content will keep people re-visiting the blog and they may well become subscribers.

But I feel that all visitors are of equal value. Some visitors will make you some money but lots of visitors will make youlots of visitors. This is regardless of where they came from. Blogging is partly a numbers game.
